Special exhibitions, meet-the-artist events, children’s activities and live demonstrations are all available for discovery within the bustling independent galleries of Lancaster city.

  • Feature Artist Robert A. Nelson’s “Unrecorded Histories” – At the age of 91, resident artist Robert Nelson is filling us in on the unrecorded histories of Nelson’s Universe. You will find his usual cast of characters and some new ones. Dubbed ‘the last draughtsman’, Nelson’s drawings are incomparable.  Dr Nelson’s art is housed in the finest collections of MoMA and The Smithsonian American Art Museum among many regional museums and prestigious personal collections.

  • Fifty Years Straddling the Velvet Rope: The Photography of Gary Lee Boas – From his first experiences of meeting Miss Universe of 1966 to meeting Ronald Reagan, Gary Lee Boas realized his encounters with “famous” people fed his soul.  Rather than just gathering a collection of signatures, Boas soon realized he wanted an image to remember his encounter and started taking pictures with his brownie camera.

  • Miesse’s Candy collaborates with LSJ Studios in the spirit of community in an effort to support Mom’s House of Lancaster- a nondenominational center that empowers single mothers to complete their education and find meaningful and gainful employment.  Families and visitors of all ages are invited to stop in Saturday or Sunday and consider donating from a list of items that Mom’s House is currently in need of.  As our way of saying thank you, Meisse’s will have a candy making station set up for anyone who donates to this important local nonprofit!
